Although a native Chilean, Viu Manent's Patricio Celedón, qualified in viticulture in Chile but has worked with some well-known wineries in the US and Australia, before becoming chief winemaker at Viu Manent in early 2010, bringing home his international expertise. A lighter alternative to the typically dense, inky Chilean Merlots, this example is a little softer, with a touch more raspberry and blackberry to the fruit, and the merest hint of cocoa. Drink with straightforward, meaty pasta dishes, or a lamb casserole.
