The grapes for this wine are grown in Château des Maladrets' sandy and granite rich soils, on low-yielding old vines, are hand harvested before undergoing 'semi carbonic maceration' and intracellular fermentation in large open-topped wooden vats. This is a vibrant ruby coloured wine with a lifted perfumed nose of kirsch and sweet spice, hints of white pepper, an elegant balance of acidity and fruit, minimal tannins and a long sweet-spice finish. At its best when served lightly chilled and drunk within the next three years, especially with pork and poultry or grilled fish.
